WPPB, a non-profit 501(c)3 Community Radio, is Petersburg’s first FCC-licensed Low Power FM (LPFM) radio station, created to amplify local voices, strengthen civic engagement, and preserve the cultural heartbeat of our community through accessible, community-driven media.

Operated by the Leslie International Public Press Center, WPPB serves residents who are historically underrepresented in mainstream media — including youth, artists, small businesses, educators, faith leaders, and grassroots organizations. Our mission is to deliver trusted information, culturally relevant programming, emergency communications, and platforms for creative expression while advancing media literacy, workforce development, and community storytelling.

Petersburg is a city rich in history, resilience, and cultural legacy, yet many communities lack access to hyperlocal media infrastructure. WPPB fills this gap through programming that includes local news, public affairs, mental health conversations, youth-led programming, educational content, and diverse music formats such as Hip-Hop, Classic R&B, Gospel, Reggae, Afrobeats, Southern Soul, and Old School Hip-Hop — all curated through a community-first lens.

Currently launching as a digital-first broadcast platform while completing studio and transmission infrastructure, WPPB is serving listeners immediately through livestreams, podcasts, and on-demand programming while building toward full FM operations. This phased approach ensures sustainable growth while maximizing community impact from day one.

WPPB is more than a radio station; it is a public service organization in development, dedicated to strengthening civic participation, promoting economic opportunity, supporting mental wellness dialogue, preserving local culture, and elevating authentic community narratives.

Our vision is to become a trusted media hub and emergency communications partner,  in a community that would otherwise be unheard ensuring that Petersburg has a voice!
